Velvet by myself

Ho sempre amato il velluto, quel morbido e aristocratico tessuto che, da piccola, mi faceva pensare ai lunghi e preziosi mantelli delle nobildonne del passato. Quest'anno (ma già lo scorso inverno), è tornato di moda e, declinato in tutte le tinte dell'arcobaleno su abiti e accessori, è pronto a diventare uno dei grandi protagonisti di questa stagione.

Ora a Torino è ancora troppo presto per indossare giacche o pantaloni in velluto, ma non voglio rinunciare lo stesso a un dettaglio velvety nel mio guardaroba. Oltre al floccato degli occhiali di Italia Independent (sempre presenti nella mia borsa), infatti, ho deciso di crearmi alcuni bijoux in fettuccia di velluto decorata da medaglie o spille-gioiello. 

Ad un sottile filo rosso ho cucito una medaglietta miniata di Merù e ad un nastro più largo blu notte spille vintage.

I've always loved velvet, that soft and smart fabric which, when I was a little girl, made me think about the long and precious mantles that the noblewomen of the past wore. This  year (but already last winter), it's again a trend and, declined in every colour and on every cloth or accessory, it's perfect to lead our fw 2012-2013 wishlist.

It's too soon, now, to wear coats or trousers made of this texture in Turin, but I don't want to give up wearing a velvety detail. Besides Italia Independent sunglasses (always present in my bag), in fact, I've decided to create some velvety bijoux by myself.

I sewed a little painted medal by Merù on a thin red thread and vintage brooches on a thicker dark blue ribbon.

Chill out at the seaside in September

C'è qualcosa di meglio del mare d'estate? Sì, il mare fuori stagione. 

In realtà, questo non è nient'altro che un modo di dire, perchè il weekend che ho appena passato in Liguria, tra il caldo, il pienone e le belle giornate, ha molto in comune con le vacanze estive. La differenza è che, quando agosto finisce e si torna a casa per lavorare o studiare, quelle brevi gite fuori porta che ci concediamo ogni tanto ci appaiono molto più preziose di uno dei giorni (spesso simili tra loro) dei periodi di ferie. Sono infatti inaspettati, inusuali e, diciamolo, liberatori perchè alcune settimane a volte mettono letteralmente al tappeto. 

Il mio outfit rispecchia proprio questa filosofia, quella del relax. Tessuti morbidi e svolazzanti, fiori, capelli liberi e mossi (beh, questo è il dettaglio meno studiato!) e un'atmosfera chill out senza pari.

Is there something better than the seaside during summer? Yes, the seaside in autumn.

Actually, the weekend I passed wasn't so different from the days of summer holidays. The short moments we reserve for us, during the year, seem more precious than the days of the holidays. In fact, they're unexpected, exceptional and they make us feel free. 

My outfit follows this philosophy, the relax one. Soft and light fabrics, flowers, free and wavy hair (this last detail is the least desired, believe me!) and a chill out atmosphere like no other.
