Focus on bijoux: Tomoko Tokuda
Incontro Tomoko Tokuda a Milano, all'Opificio 31 di via Tortona, in occasione del Fuori Salone Design Week 2013. Nata a Tokyo, ma milanese d'adozione, mi racconta la sua storia.
Fu una scatola ricoperta di polvere e scovata sulla bancarella di un mercatino d'antiquariato a ispirarla.
Lo scrigno racchiudeva, infatti, quei vecchi orologi da polso, ormai fermi, fuori moda o visibilmente rovinati che, di lì a poco, sarebbero diventati i suoi migliori amici.
Tomoko si chiese subito se potesse in qualche modo trovar loro una sistemazione, dar loro una nuova vita. Chi ama il vintage capirà perfettamente tale esigenza.
Gli oggetti antichi hanno un fascino diverso. Raccontano le storie di chi li ha posseduti; rimandano ad epoche diverse, talvolta lontane e magari migliori; evocano ricordi e memorie del tempo che fu... Insomma, hanno un'anima che va fatta rivivere.
Inizialmente, avendo studiato moda, pensò di cucire i quadranti, colorati e dalle forme rétro, abilmente smontati e ripuliti, sulle T-shirt della maison per cui lavorava. Tuttavia, l'idea della poca praticità che questi capi potessero avere e il desiderio di creare un brand tutto suo, la portarono a considerare l'idea di creare bijoux.
E così, nel 2006, nacquero i gioielli Tomoko Tokuda.
Bracciali, anelli, collane e orecchini per i quali il tempo sembra essersi fermato: ingranaggi e lancette non sono mai stati così glamour!
La vera sfida per Tomoko è stato imparare da zero qualcosa di cui sapeva poco o niente. Ma, forse, questo è anche stato il suo punto di forza. Ignorare le regole e le tecniche della gioielleria non ha, infatti, posto limiti alla sua creatività, permettendole di innovare e creare bijoux del tutto inediti ed originali.
Ancora oggi, come il primo giorno, realizza ogni pezzo a mano e non intende farsi aiutare, perchè - mi sottolinea più volte - ciò che porta il suo nome deve passare solo dalle sue mani ed essere "suo" al 100%.
Fino a domani espone, nello spazio a lei dedicato dal Fuori Salone Design Week di Milano (via tortona 31), la sua ultima collezione.

I meet Tomoko Tokuda in Milan, at Opificio 31 (Via Tortona 31), for the Fuori Salone Design Week 2013. Born in Tokyo, but grown between France and Milan, she tells me her story.
A box covered of dust, found among the stands of an antique market, inspired her.
It was full of old watches, the ones which would have become her best friends.
Tomoko immediately asked herself if she could give them another placement, a new life. Who loves vintage things would understand this need easily.
Ancient objects have a special appeal.They tell their owners' stories, make you think of far ages and evocate memories of the past... In a few words, they have a soul which needs to live again.
At first, having studied fashion, she thought of sewing the colured and rètro shaped quadrants on clothes. But then, reflecting about the less practicality of these items and wondering about an own brand of hers, she decided to create bijoux.
So, in 2006, Tomoko Tokuda jewels were born.
Bracelets, rings, necklaces and earrings out of time: needles and mechanisms have never been so glamourous!
The hard thing for Tomoko was learning from the beginning something she really didn't know. But it was also her force: ignoring the jewellery techniques and rules, allowed her to have no limits in creativity and create new and original items.
Still today, like the first times, her jewels are hand made and she doesn't want any help: things under her name must be "hers" at 100%.
Until tomorrow, she exhibits her last collection in the area dedicated to her by the Milan Fuori Salone Design Week.

Focus on bijoux: my Chan luu collection
Oggi voglio inaugurare una nuova rubrica, Focus on bijoux.
L'idea di iniziare a dedicarmi, più nello specifico, a questi meravigliosi piccoli oggetti, in un'apposita parte del blog, mi è venuta mentre cercavo - peraltro con scarso successo - di riordinare la mia stanza.
Inutile dire che ho presto rinunciato (la costanza non è mai stata un mio forte!).
Dopo aver chiuso le ante del mio armadio, straripante di roba, la mia attenzione si è spostata sul ripiano dei portagioie, ingombro di braccialetti, orecchini, collane, anelli, ...
Questi, al di là di ogni trend, sono i veri must-have della Torisienne DOC.
L'arte di brillare senza portare per forza pietre preziose, di far rivivere un abito molto semplice o magari vintage, di apparire sempre creativa e originale... Ecco ciò che non deve mancare mai a una donna elegante, sicura di sé, che segue le mode, ma preferisce dettarle. Ed ecco che è nato Focus on bijoux.
Se c'è qualcosa a cui non posso veramente fare a meno sono i wrap bracelets di Chan Luu.
Perle, cristalli, argenti, ori e piccoli teschi si susseguono incessanti, intrecciati a due fili di cuoio.
Sono perfetti su tutto e in ogni occasione. Raramente qualcuno evita di notarli, e, se lo fa, è per gelosia!!

Today I want to inaugurate a new section of my blog, Focus on bijoux.
The idea came to me while I was trying to tidy up my bedroom.
After having closed the doors of my full-of-everything wardrobe, my attention moved to my bijoux shelf, all covered by bracelets, earrings, necklaces, rings...
These, beyond any trend, are the real Torisienne's must-haves.
The ability to sparkle without wearing precious jems, to make an old or very simple dress become gorgeous, to appear always original and beautiful... Here is what should never miss to an elegant and self-confident woman who follows trends, but prefers to dictate them. Here is how Focus on bijoux was born.
If there's something I really can't renounce to, it is a wrap bracelet by Chan Luu.
Pearls, crystals, golden and silver beads and little skulls are tied together to two leather threads. This bracelets are perfect on everything and in every occasion. Rarely someone ignores them: if she does, she's jealous!!

Winter in Turin!!
Da qualche giorno, a Torino fa veramente freddo!!
Ecco qui alcuni consigli fashion per sopravvivere a questa prima ondata di gelo (ne seguiranno altre, molto più rigide, nelle prossime settimane!). Rifatevi gli occhi (e copritevi bene!).
