Santa's coming to town

Lights everywhere, agendas full of dates, gifts to wrap, overcrowded trafic in the streets, waiting kids, kitchens smelling of cinnamon cookies... Christmas's coming!
This is the period of the year I prefer. Having a walk in Turin, if you're good in avoiding the crowd in the city centre, is very pleasant. Luci d'Artista are turned on again, in the old cafes friends switch presents in front of a cup of hot chocolate, little pines everywhere... Snow, which - I must say - would make all more magical, is absent, but we're waiting for it, patiently.
Obviously, as every year, I'm in late with the perfect gift hunt. But I'll take action soon, writing, in the next days, a sort of letter to Santa-gift guide. I hope it'll inspire laggards like me!!

Crop top + camouflage skirt

Pantaloni, sciarpe, piumini, felpe, borse, gonne...
Non sarebbe proprio l'ambiente adatto a me, temo.

My friends or who follows my blog know it well. Camouflage is one of my permanent features.
Trousers, scarves, duvet coats, hoodies, bags, skirts... You can make the name of any fashion accessory: I surely have it in camo version in my wardrobe.
You'd make a mistake, though, if you thought I ever had the wish to enlist into the army. That wouldn't be my natural habitat, I'm afraid.
Nowadays, as I already wrote in some postscamouflage has become a classic item. Even the serious suits for men have been covered by this pattern (Lapo Elkann teaches).
The rala news, not properly in my style, actually, is the crop top, which lets few centimetres of abdomen naked (but cover your belly-button, please!). Used a lot by trendsetters all over the world, it got the trend of naked stomaches glamour again. Did we really miss it? I don't know, but I give you an advice: don't exaggerate, never!

Coming home...

Work in  progress, babes.

After having tried everything to disappear for a while, avoiding wifi connections and social networks, to run (or fly) the furthest possible away from what we use to call "home", to forget the everyday problems and things to do, here it is: September comes.
To come back to cities, after a period of "dolce far niente", isn't as easy as it seems.
The start of the nineth month of the year wakes us up from the peace we hardly had created: it's like a cold shower, a naughty alarm clock...
When September comes we have to begin again with our everyday life, what we left in pause in June (relationships, projects..), the trafic of the morning, the gym, the days which seem to last thirty hours...
Coming back from holidays means coming back to our lives, the real ones.
To be a little depressed is normal, but, if we hate what we are going to do, ther's a problem to solve. Maybe we just need a change. A new hobby, a new work, new friends...
1st September is the real New Year's Eve, according to me.
If it's true that destiny always has a good surprise for us, let's work out and make this year great!

PS: having been away from the blog for a while, I reflected a bit... I think about a restyling and more and more. Work in progress, babes! See you <3

Black and lace - La Tesoriera

I've been very busy the month which just passed, but, now, at last, I'm free to come back working on my blog again.
These photos have been taken in Parco della Tesoriera, in Turin (ça va sans dire!), in a little break between storms and African heat waves. -.-
I chose a light and comfortable outfit, that's perfect for this period, according to me. In fact, despite the heat, we mustn't forget we're still in a city, not yet at the seaside!!
I hope you like it!!

My #1 Christmas fashion wishlist

Luci d'artista - Via Po, Torino

Caro Babbo Natale...
Regali a volontà!!!
XOXO FDB

Dear Santa Claus... This was the beginning of the letters our parents told us they would send to Lapland. There, hard-working elves would have sent us presents directly underneath our Christmas tree. Now that we're older, we know everything is a fairytale and our desires changed and became more complicated. But we don't have to get down: Christmas is the best period of the year!!
Snow, choirs, lights everywhere, presents...
Santa can't do everything, so let's help him writing a fashion wishlist: hoping that someone around us will read it!!

Casual chic on the hills

XOXO FDB

Today I've decided to dedicate a post to Turin. In fact, despite the presentation of the blog, I'va almost never talked about the city to which I dedicate my web site.
As background for my photos, I chose two of my favourite places on the hills around Turin: Monte dei Cappuccini  and Villa della Regina.
My outfit can be considered elegant and casual at the same time.
The biker boots and the blazer ease the bon ton allure of the dress and of the Baguette, the icon bag by Fendi, which is 15 for few months.
Perfect for a cocktail or for a walk , this look becomes different depending on the accessories.
Tell me what you think about it!!

Why torisienne??

"Turin is the little Paris" someone once said.

It is from here that comes The Torisienne ( torinese + parisienne). In fact, between the French capital and my town there are some similarities. Our Eiffel Tower? The Mole Antonelliana. Our Seine? The river Po. The facades of old buildings? Closely resembling each other. Parks? More than one. So there is (almost) everything. But two cities can not be said to be similar if they have not something else in common. For example, style. Of life, certainly, but not only.
Paris has been the busy and rich capital of fashion and art for centuries. Turin certainly cannot compete with all this (and God forbid!).
However, there is a certain something that differentiates Paris from New York as Turin from Milan (no offense). No one in the Ville Lumière would think of tending to "bling" or even "kitsch", as Ines de la Fressange says in La Parisienne (an inspiration of not little value).
In the air of Paris there are more fashion trends than oxygen, but style is not flashy, screaming, or worse, vulgar. The parisienne’s would never wear too studied outfits. In the land of the chic understatement, it would never happen. This vague sense of superiority about everything that is "trendy" or "fashionable" passed to Turin, with all the obvious differences, of course.
And I am sorry for Milan, where everything is fast, where vintage is decrepit, where everything is either "in" or "out". In Turin, life is slow , even "provincial", some one might say with a touch of contempt (jealousy?) in his voice. Here, fashion is not taken (apparently) too seriously and people love to build a personal style and show off their own taste,  rather than the latest Celine bag.
By this, I am careful not to criticize the Italian capital of fashion. There is a reason why in Milan take place the main Italian brands maisons.
But let me express the love for my city, which is ot very well known, but that was recently discovered by the "New York Times", who dedicated to it an article in the Travel section.

My blog is different for this. For once, there won’t be only Milan in the spotlight. But not just Turin (be warned). I love travelling and I’ll try to adapt my personal style as much as possible to every place I will visit.
Hoping that you’ll enjoy my work…
